Mission Statement and Description

Efficiently discover, list, classify, and value all property in Mesa County and provide accurate property information to the general public.

The County Assessor is responsible for

  • Locating, identifying, and valuing all property in the County
  • Maintaining current information on the ownership and characteristics of all property
  • Preparing and certifying an accurate, annual assessment roll
  • Making all non-confidential databases readily accessible to the public
  • Educating the public on the duties of the County Assessor

2024 Goals, Objectives, and Performance Indicators

  1. Employee recruitment and retention.
  2. Answer all Protests and Appeals fairly by the new deadline imposed by the legislature.
  3. Implement new assessment rate changes and exemptions.
  4. Appraise new Assessed Values and certify to each taxing entity; pass the audit.
  5. Process Senior/Veteran Exemptions and Owner-occupied affidavits.
