Mission Statement and Description

To maintain and improve health through assessment of community health status, policy development to support effective programs, and assurance of high quality, effective education and service.

Mesa County Public Health is governed by a five-member volunteer board appointed by the Board of County Commissioners. The Health Department offers free and low-cost health clinics and nursing services to residents of all ages and incomes, tracks environmental health and communicable diseases, maintains vital records, and conducts public outreach and education. The department also updates Mesa County’s Community Health Needs Assessment every three years in order to provide actionable information on public health issues for local partners and residents.

  1. Public Health plays a meaningful role in improving financial stability related to food security, family support, safety, and equity as significant drivers of health behaviors and outcomes.
  2. Public Health plays a meaningful role in the accessibility and affordability of physical and mental health services and resources, as well as the provision of safe and healthy environments.
