Mission Statement and Description

To maintain, perpetuate, and interpret legal records and public information which control land boundaries, property ownership, and associated interests for the citizens of Mesa County in order to safeguard real property and promote public welfare.

The Surveyor supports other Mesa County departments and citizens in interpreting land boundaries and addressing boundary issues. The Surveyor reviews projects submitted to the Planning and Code Compliance Department for compliance with state statutes, rules, and regulations as well as County requirements and assists the County Assessor, Treasurer, Sheriff, and other County staff and citizens in interpreting deeds, easements, rights of way, and other boundary issues. The Surveyor also advises other professionals, including land surveyors, attorneys, and realtors, on issues involving boundaries and rights of way.

  1. Improve transparency and efficiency of the County's plat deposit system.

  2. Continue to support the professional surveyor community and advance County priorities.
