Mission Statement and Description

To provide Mesa County residents with environmentally responsible and fiscally accessible waste disposal options.

Solid Waste Management provides affordable waste disposal options to Mesa County residents and businesses by operating a landfill, organic materials composting facility, hazardous waste collection facility, and four transfer stations for collecting municipal solid waste. The landfill and transfer stations also provide drop-off locations for paper and co-mingled recyclables.

In addition to managing waste disposal facilities, Solid Waste works with regional industry leaders to educate Mesa County residents about proper waste disposal and recycling options. The department also hosts campus tours for schools, professionals, and community members.

2024 Goals, Objectives, and Performance Indicators

  1. Maintain affordable waste disposal options while managing a recent decline in revenue.
