Fletcher named 2026 Chairman of the Board of Mesa County Commissioners
During the Board of Mesa County Commissioners’ administrative hearing on Jan. 6, 2026, Commissioner JJ Fletcher was unanimously elected as the 2026 Chair of the Board. Commissioner Fletcher succeeds Commissioner Cody Davis, who served as Chair in 2025.
“It is a privilege to serve as chair of the Board of County Commissioners,” said JJ Fletcher, Chairman of the Board of Mesa County Commissioners. “Alongside my fellow commissioners, I remain focused on advancing solutions that strengthen our community, encourage innovation, and support long-term success for Mesa County.”
The position of Chair rotates annually among Board members, as is customary, and comes with critical responsibilities. The Chair presides over all Board meetings, signs official County orders, and represents the County in various capacities. By law, this official has the right and the duty to vote on all questions before the Board unless excused by a standing rule of the Board or other Board members’ consent.

- Community Corrections Board
- Community Services Block Grant - Tri-Partite Board (Health Department)
- Criminal Justice Advisory Committee
- Grand Junction Economic Partnership (GJEP)
- Water Round Table: Colorado Basin
