The Board of Mesa County Commissioners ratified a $715,000 grant agreement during the Jan. 28 public hearing that the Colorado Judicial Department Underfunded Courthouse Facility Cash Fund Commission awarded Mesa County for the design of an expansion of the Mesa County Justice Center.

This grant agreement finalizes the $715,000 awarded funds, nearly half the amount the Board of Commissioners applied for during their Sept. 24, 2024, public hearing

The grant will help fund the design costs for a proposed 107,520-square-foot annex, connected to the Mesa County Justice Center, to provide ample space for the Sheriff's Office, District Attorney, and judicial functions as Mesa County's population continues to rise.

The ongoing Mesa County Justice Center improvement project demonstrates Mesa County's commitment to providing modern, efficient court facilities that meet the increasing demands of our legal system. Mesa County is now onto the next step of expanding the Justice Center, putting the annex design out to bid.
