On the morning of Nov. 21, the Mesa County Board of Commissioners took time to slow down and engage in an insightful conversation with 10th-grade economics students from Ascent Classical Academy of Grand Junction. The discussion centered on how local government plays a vital role in our economy.

The students came prepared with thoughtful questions, explored real-world economic challenges facing our community and learned about the history of the Old Mesa County Courthouse during a guided tour.

Their curiosity, professionalism and depth of understanding left the commissioners inspired and encouraged about the next generation of leaders.
