Mesa County plants pinwheels for Child Abuse Prevention Month
Tuesday morning in front of the Old Courthouse, 544 Rood Ave., MCDHS Executive Director Jill Calvert and Child Welfare Director Joe Kellerby joined the Board of Mesa County Commissioners and other County Officials to plant pinwheels in recognition of Child Abuse Prevention Month.
Pinwheel gardens are being planted around Mesa County this month to represent the joy and innocence of childhood. They serve as a visual reminder that every child and youth deserves to grow up free from abuse and neglect.
“Prevention works best when it is a community effort,” said MCDHS Child Welfare Division Director Joe Kellerby. “When neighbors, schools, businesses, and local leaders all work together to support families, we create an environment where children can grow up safe, supported and surrounded by opportunity.”
