Mesa County recognizes law enforcement officers for National Police Week
The Mesa County Sheriff's Office and Grand Junction Police Department joint Honor Guard commenced the May 13 administrative public hearing with a presentation of the flags before Cody Davis, the Chair of the Board of Mesa County Commissioners, read a proclamation to formally declare May 11 - 17, 2025, as National Police Week in Mesa County.
The hearing moved on to the Board of Mesa County Commissioners, sharing their gratitude for our community's brave and dedicated law enforcement, beginning with Chairman Cody Davis.
"In honor of National Police Week, we would like to take a moment to recognize the brave men and women who work for Mesa County Sheriff's Office and our law enforcement partners in Mesa County, including Grand Junction Police Department, Palisade Police Department, Fruita Police Department, De Beque Marshal's Office and Colorado State Patrol," said Chair to the Board of Mesa County Commissioners Cody Davis.
Next to speak was Commissioner JJ Fletcher.
"Thank you for your service and your commitment to our community," said Mesa County Commissioner JJ Fletcher. "We can rest at night well knowing that you are out there for us."
Commissioner Bobbie Daniel wrapped up the Commissioners' portion of speaking.
"Our police officers are the quiet strength behind every safe street and peaceful neighborhood," said Mesa County Commissioner Bobbie Daniel. "We owe our men and women in uniform not only our thanks but our unwavering support."
The portion of the hearing dedicated to recognizing law enforcement officers was concluded with a speech from Mesa County Sheriff Todd Rowell.
"I just want to say thank you. We've always had the support of this board, and I couldn't imagine working in an environment where the board of county commissioners don't support you," said Mesa County Sheriff Todd Rowell. "To the community, thank you for all the support you've given us. We work hard to earn your trust and we'll continue to work hard to earn your trust. Thank you in recognizing the law enforcement officers throughout our community."
