April is Child Abuse Prevention Month, and blue pinwheels across Mesa County serve as a reminder that child abuse and neglect can happen — even when it isn’t visible.

Mesa County Commissioner Cody Davis said the display is meant to raise awareness and encourage action. Recognizing the signs and speaking up can help protect children in our community.

“These kids can’t defend themselves,” Davis said. “It’s upon us to defend them.”

The pinwheels represent prevention, awareness and shared responsibility. Paying attention, checking in and reporting concerns can make a difference.

If you suspect child abuse or neglect, call the Mesa County Child Protection Hotline at 970-242-1211. In an emergency, call 911.

For early support, the Warmline is available at 970-242-1211 to help families before issues grow.
