Held by the 21st Judicial District Attorney’s Office at the Mesa County Justice Center in September, Warrant Forgiveness Day provided support to approximately 100 cases. The event brought agencies together in a centralized location to help people work through the standard steps to clear their qualifying warrants.

This event helps our community members get back on track with court obligations and reduces the number of court cases to support staff. It also makes space for other cases that require time and resources.

Collaboration made the initiative successful, with the Mesa County Probation Office and the Mesa County Criminal Justice Services Department assisting with resource navigation and program concerns at the event. Grand Valley Transit offered free fare to individuals traveling to the event.

Qualifying warrants included:

  • Misdemeanor
  • Petty offense
  • Traffic offense
  • Felony 5
  • Felony 6
  • Drug felony 4
  • Probation violation within the above offenses

“One thing that is to be said about the individuals that are coming is it shows that they want to address these legal obligations that are hanging out there,” Mesa County Criminal Justice Services Manager Michael Perry said. “To have that many agencies and departments working together, it was truly an impressive day.”
