Voters who own property in multiple jurisdictions may receive separate ballots for the upcoming election
Colorado voters should be aware of a unique aspect of the upcoming election. Multiple special districts are coordinating their election with local authorities, which may result in voters receiving more than one ballot.
If a registered voter does not reside within a participating special district but owns property within it, they are still eligible to vote in that district's election. As a result, eligible voters may receive two ballots, one for the residential jurisdiction and another for the special districts in which they own property.
“The special districts certify a list of eligible voters to us, and we mail the property owner ballot to them, which contains only the question for that special district,” said Mesa County Clerk and Recorder Bobbie Gross. “If you receive a property owner ballot and you do not own property in that district, please contact the election office.”
“This election is special because of increased coordination between counties and special districts,” added Gross. “We encourage voters to contact our office if they have questions.”
