Last budget amendment approved before County budget adoption
On Nov. 25 at the administrative public hearing, the Board of Mesa County Commissioners approved the final 2025 budget amendment for this year, authorizing additional revenues and expenditures before the 2026 budget adoption at the Dec. 9 public hearing. Amendments to the budget include recognizing new revenues and authorizing appropriations based on new information.
New grant revenues:
- District Attorney’s Office: $350,924 in additional grants received and appropriated
- Sheriff’s Office: $183,451 in additional grants and revenues received and appropriated
- Human Services: $800,000 in additional grants received and appropriated
The amended budget also includes additional expenditures, not linked to additional revenues, such as increases to utility costs, Japanese beetle eradication costs, health insurance studies and overtime pay for fire mitigation efforts.
The County anticipates using an additional $652,428 from the fund balance, based on the necessary amendments and the additional revenue gained after the budget adoption at the end of 2024.
