In the Child Welfare Division at Mesa County Department of Human Services (MCDHS), 510 29 ½ Road, we know that supporting children and families takes more than a caseworker. This work requires community, and that’s where CarePortal comes in.

CarePortal is an online platform that bridges the gap between needs identified by child welfare professionals and local community members who want to help. CarePortal allows us to share specific needs and gives our neighbors a chance to respond directly. Some examples include a crib for a newborn, a bus pass for a teen aging out of care or groceries for a struggling parent.

Since adopting the CarePortal program, our team has seen firsthand how this tool turns compassion into action. Now, the rest of the world is starting to take notice.

Mike Rowe, best known as the host of “Dirty Jobs,” recently featured CarePortal in the first episode of his YouTube series, “Somebody’s Got to Do It.” The episode offers a powerful look at how CarePortal is changing lives across the country. You can watch it here.

We encourage everyone to consider participating in the CarePortal. When we meet people where they are, we can help families stay strong and supported.
