Foster, kinship and adoptive families from across Mesa County are invited to a day of fun and connection at the 2025 Foster and Kinship Resource Fair. The free event runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 6, at Orchard Mesa Lions Club Park, 2770 US-50.

Hosted by the Mesa County Department of Human Services (MCDHS) in partnership with KinConnect, WhimSpire, Ariel Clinical Services, Hope & Home, Project 1.27 and Be the Source, the fair will feature games, activities, food trucks, prize drawings and a bounce house. Families can meet local agencies, ask questions and explore resources available in the community.

“This is a celebration of our foster and kinship families, and also an open invitation for anyone curious about foster care,” says Sarah St. Martin, MCDHS Child Welfare Supervisor. “It’s a chance to connect, learn and see what supports are available right here in Mesa County.”

The fair is designed for current foster, kinship and adoptive families as well as community members who want to learn more. Those who sign up to receive more information about becoming a foster parent will be entered into a special prize drawing.

If you’ve ever wondered what it takes to become a foster parent or how to navigate kinship care, this is the perfect opportunity to get informed in a relaxed, welcoming setting.
