As part of Child Support Awareness Month activities, our Child Support team hosted informational sessions for staff across the department. These gave employees an inside look at the services Child Support provides, how to effectively refer clients to program entry points and the impact these services have on local families.

The sessions aimed to strengthen cross-program understanding, improve client referrals and ensure families are connected to resources as quickly as possible. Topics included the application process, modifications, enforcement, program statistics and establishing parentage and orders.

As of June 2025, Mesa County Child Support Services is managing more than 5,800 active cases. In that same month, the program collected over $1.3 million in child support payments, which directly benefit children in our community. Statewide, Colorado’s Child Support program is celebrating 50 years of service, with $8.9 billion collected and distributed to families since its inception.

MCDHS thanks our Child Support staff for their continued dedication to finding efficiencies, ensuring accuracy and working tirelessly to make sure families get the support they deserve.
