Mesa County Human Services recognized for 95% SNAP timeliness
Mesa County Department of Human Services (MCDHS) has been recognized by the Colorado Department of Human Services for achieving a 95% timeliness rate in processing Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) applications. This recognition highlights our commitment to ensuring that eligible families receive the food assistance they need, when they need it.
SNAP provides vital support to households facing food insecurity, helping them access nutritious food while easing financial strain. Timely processing of applications is critical for families who may be experiencing immediate hardship. By reaching the 95% benchmark, MCDHS has demonstrated its efficiency, accuracy and dedication to serving the community without delay.
“We understand that every day counts when a family is waiting for help to put food on the table,” said Economic Assistance Director Melissa Schierland. “This recognition reflects the hard work of our staff, who are dedicated to making sure residents get the assistance they need quickly.”
This recognition also reflects a broader commitment to organizational excellence. Through streamlined processes, staff training and a focus on customer service, MCDHS continues to improve program access while meeting state and federal performance standards.
MCDHS thanks its dedicated SNAP team for connecting residents with resources and ensuring that Mesa County remains a place where families can find the support they need to thrive.
