Mesa County renews key contracts to support child welfare services
At last Tuesday’s public hearing, the Board of Mesa County Commissioners approved the renewal of several contracts that sustain and strengthen the work of the Department of Human Services Child Welfare Division. These contracts are more than just paperwork as they represent Mesa County’s ongoing commitment to keeping families together, supporting safe reunification and ensuring children grow up in stable, nurturing environments.
Recommended by Joe Kellerby, Director of the Child Welfare Division, the renewed contracts include partnerships with several local nonprofit organizations. Each one reflects the county’s focus on family preservation, early intervention and community-based care. Through our partnerships with trusted local providers, we offer critical services that help stabilize families, prevent unnecessary out-of-home placements and support reunification whenever safely possible.
The renewed contracts support a wide range of services, including therapeutic support, parenting strategies, in-home stabilization, youth engagement and trauma-informed care. Together, these providers help us respond to the complex needs of children and families with compassion, expertise and consistency.
Our Child Welfare Division doesn’t do this work alone. We rely on collaboration with service providers, families and other community partners to create real, lasting change. These contract renewals are one piece of a larger strategy to make sure families have access to the tools and support they need to stay safely together.
