Clifton Nature Park and Riverfront Trail closed Feb. 17–19 for tamarisk removal
Mesa County will temporarily close Clifton Nature Park and the Riverfront Trail from Tuesday, Feb. 17, through Thursday, Feb. 19, to allow crews to safely remove and chip tamarisk trees along the southern and eastern pathways.
Mesa County Noxious Weed and Pest and Mesa County Trails will conduct the work using chainsaws and a wood chipper. For public safety, the park and trail will be closed during this time due to the risk of falling debris and active equipment operations.
The work includes cutting, chipping and transporting removed vegetation along the trail corridor. Closing the area ensures the safety of pets, cyclists, pedestrians, and other park users while crews are on site.
Advance closure signage will be posted at Clifton Nature Park and along the Riverfront Trail to notify users ahead of time. The park and trail are expected to reopen Friday, Feb. 20, after 5:30 p.m., once work is complete.
This maintenance supports ongoing efforts to manage invasive species and maintain safe, accessible trails for the community.
