During their Oct. 28 public hearing, the Board of Mesa County Commissioners sent a letter of support to the Grand Valley Outdoor Recreation Coalition for the development of a community-led, collaborative Recreation Master Plan focused on economic growth, sustainable management and stewardship.

The Grand Valley Outdoor Recreation Coalition seeks to develop a comprehensive, long-term strategy to preserve, enhance and expand outdoor recreation opportunities and infrastructure across Mesa County.

This initiative seeks to bring together a wide range of partners, including incorporated and unincorporated communities, land managers, stewardship organizations, industry representatives and other stakeholders who share a mutual interest in strengthening our outdoor recreation assets and planning thoughtfully for the future.

As stewards of this region, Mesa County recognizes the value of open discussions that prioritize access, sustainability and the unique character of the Grand Valley. We understand that this nonregulatory master plan is intended as a community-informed guiding document. We think it can help position Mesa County for future funding and engagement opportunities while preserving local control and input.

This process offers residents the opportunity to help shape a shared vision that reflects the values and needs of those who live, work and recreate here.
