Roadside weed treatments set to begin April 20 along Mesa County roads
Mesa County will begin roadside weed treatments the week of April 20 in Fruita, Loma, Clifton, Mesa and Collbran.
These treatments help improve visibility and keep main roads in unincorporated Mesa County in good condition.
Herbicide applications will continue periodically through October, and residents may see crews working along roadsides throughout the season.
Crews treat weeds along roadways and rights of way, up to 10 feet from each side of the road.
Property owners who do not want herbicide applied near their property can opt out by joining the county’s “No Spray” list.
To opt out, property owners must:
- Sign up for the “No Spray” list
- Clearly mark property boundaries with signs or bright flags
- Manage weeds in those areas to maintain safety and visibility
Signing up means the property owner is responsible for maintaining the adjacent right of way, including clear lines of sight for drivers.
If your property is within city limits, you do not need to sign up. Treatments are limited to main collector roads and do not take place within neighborhoods.
To sign up or learn more, visit the Mesa County website and search “No Spray list” or “roadside herbicide treatments.”
