Mesa County Public Health is hosting a focus group to hear from local adults about youth tobacco and nicotine use. Community members in Mesa County are encouraged to join the conversation and help shape solutions that protect youth.

According to the Community Health Needs Assessment released last year, youth in Mesa County use tobacco and nicotine at higher rates than their statewide counterparts. The 2023 Health Kids Colorado Survey found 87% of underage students were not refused when trying to purchase tobacco or vaping products.

“Youth tobacco use continues to be a concern in our community, and hearing directly from parents and other adults in Mesa County is critical to finding solutions,” said Darcy Weir, Community Health Planner Supervisor at Mesa County Public Health. “Together, we can identify prevention strategies that work for our youth.”
