Mesa County Public Health has issued a No Burn Advisory for Thursday, April 2 from 11 a.m. until 9 p.m. due to fire danger. Burning of any kind, including agricultural burning, is not allowed during this advisory period.

This is in response to an advisory that has been issued for our area. The National Weather Service has issued a Wind Advisory for Mesa County on Thursday, April 2 due to southwest winds 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 50 mph expected.

Instead of burning, consider these alternatives:

  • Compost leaves and grass clippings yourself. This can improve water retention in your yard or garden.
  • Rent or borrow a wood chipper for your tree and shrub trimmings. Chipped branches can also be good mulch.
