Orchard Avenue improvements move closer to construction
Work to improve the Orchard Avenue corridor is moving closer to construction as Mesa County prepares for the first phase of roadway improvements.
On March 3, commissioners approved an agreement not to exceed $710,846.48 for construction management and materials testing services for Phase 1 of the Orchard Avenue improvement project.
Orchard Avenue is an important east-west corridor serving neighborhoods, schools and businesses in the area. Phase 1 will focus on improvements between Eastbrook Street/Hoover Court and Lewis Wash.
Large transportation projects require detailed inspection, materials testing and documentation throughout construction.
The Orchard Avenue project is supported by both the Colorado Department of Transportation Revitalizing Main Street grant and the Federal Highway Administration BUILD grant, which require strict construction oversight and reporting.
To meet those requirements, RockSol Consulting Group will assist Mesa County engineers during construction by providing:
- A project engineer and construction inspector
- Materials testing to verify quality
- Documentation required for state and federal grant compliance
- On-site coordination with the construction contractor
This work helps ensure the project is built to engineering standards and protects the public investment in the roadway.
The Orchard Avenue construction project is currently out for bid. RockSol’s team will help prepare for construction and provide full-time oversight once work begins.
Phase 1 represents the beginning of a broader effort to improve the Orchard Avenue corridor and support long-term mobility in the area.
