It’s that time of year when leaves pile up, old furniture finds its way to the curb, and many Mesa County residents are heading to the landfill with full loads of waste. If that’s you, here’s a friendly reminder to tarp your load before you go.

Covering your trash isn’t just about avoiding extra fees at the Mesa County Landfill. It’s about keeping our roads safe and our county clean. Loose debris, unsecured garbage cans and uncovered loads of appliances, cement, rocks or general waste can create hazards for everyone on the road.

A properly secured tarp is a small step that saves you money and prevents accidents.

Uncovered loads may include, but are not limited to:

  • Appliances not tied down and covered with a tarp

  • Bags, boxes, or assorted debris that are loose

  • Any load that isn’t fully secured — including cement and rock

  • Uncovered garbage cans

Thank you for helping Mesa County stay safe and pristine this fall! 🍁
