Last week, the Mesa County Workforce Center joined Mesa County Valley School District 51’s second annual Workforce Development Day at Colorado Mesa University. Our teams helped more than 1,000 high school juniors explore future careers and build real-world skills.

Workforce Development Day is a career-focused event designed to connect students with professionals, industry insights and resources that help them envision life after high school. It brought together educators, community partners, employers and workforce organizations to support student career planning and readiness.

During the breakout sessions, MCWFC team members connected with students to share information about no-cost career services such as resume building, job search tools, skills assessments and workforce coaching. Staff also led skill-building workshops that gave students an idea of what employers look for in the workplace, while engaging in one-on-one conversations about career pathways, apprenticeships, local workforce opportunities and education and training options.

Workforce Development Day plays an important role in preparing the next generation of Mesa County’s workforce. By collaborating with District 51, Colorado Mesa University and other community partners, MCWFC helps ensure students have access to career information, training pathways and professional connections as they prepare for life after graduation.

We’re proud to be part of a community initiative that brings together educators, employers and young people to strengthen local talent and empower future professionals.
