No Burn Advisory

Mesa County Public Health has issued a No Burn Advisory from Saturday, June 6 at 7 a.m. until Tuesday, June 9 at 9 p.m. due to fire danger. Burning of any kind, including agricultural burning, is not allowed during this advisory period. Check conditions on our Air Quality webpage.

Mesa County Veterans Services is hosting a Veterans Aging & Survivor Benefits Symposium from 1 to 4 p.m. on Sept. 22 at the Mesa County Workforce Center, 512 29 ½ Road.

This comprehensive event is designed to inform and empower veterans and their families by providing them with the tools and knowledge needed to navigate aging-related resources and survivor benefits. Attendees will have the opportunity to connect with experts and gain insights into a variety of programs and services.

The symposium features discussions led by professionals covering a range of topics, including:

  • Survivor Benefits, Pension, and DIC (Anthony Lee, Veterans Service Officer)
  • DFAS and Military Retirement (Scott Bartee, Veterans Service Officer)
  • Veterans’ Cemetery Information (Angela Ingalls)
  • Assisted Living for Veterans (Barbara Boe, Rifle Veterans Assisted Living Center)
  • Grief Support & Pre-Planning (Brandon Alvelais, Grief Network Alliance)

This is an opportunity for veterans, caregivers and families to learn about the latest benefits, connect with local resources and gain a clearer understanding of the support available to them. A resource tour with local community partners starts at 1 p.m. with expert speakers to follow at 2 p.m.
