Community Resources

Mesa County is home to many programs and organizations that support children, families, and individuals during times of need. Below is a list of key community resources.

Economic Assistance Call Center: As part of our Client Support Team, MCDHS provides assistance with SNAP and Medical programs and can connect you with additional resources and self-service options. Call with questions about your benefits or to report changes to your case Monday through Thursday from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Friday from 7:30 to 11:30 a.m.

Area Agency on Aging of Northwest Colorado

The Area Agency on Aging (AAA) supports older adults and caregivers by connecting them to local resources, benefits counseling, in-home support, and transportation services that promote independence and quality of life. For assistance, call 970-298-9844 or visit the AAA website.

Mesa County Veterans Service Officer

The Mesa County Veterans Service Officer (VSO) assists veterans and their families with benefits, claims, and access to local, state, and federal resources. Services include help with VA claims, education benefits, pensions, and survivor assistance. Contact the Veterans Service Officer at 970-244-0830 or visit the VSO webpage.

Temporary Assistance to Needy Families (TANF)

The Mesa County Workforce Center (MCWFC) connects job seekers and families to employment, training, and financial assistance. MCWFC offers a variety of services through Colorado Works/Temporary Assistance to Needy Families (TANF), which is a federal program that provides cash assistance to needy families with dependent children. An application for Colorado Works will also be considered for food assistance, Medicaid, and child support services. Please call 970-248-0871 or visit the MCWFC website.

Western Colorado 2-1-1

Western Colorado 2-1-1 offers free, toll-free access to community programs and services across western Colorado, including food, housing, and mental health resources. Western Colorado 2-1-1 covers the following counties: Delta County, Eagle County, Garfield County, Gunnison County, Lake County, Mesa County, Montrose County, and Pitkin County. Hilltop Connections Program

Hilltop’s Connections, Family Navigator, and Family and Adolescent Partnership (FAP) programs support families with children ages 0–19 who may not meet other program criteria. They offer case management and advocacy to fill service gaps in the community. Health Insurance

Many health insurance plans include mental and behavioral health coverage. If you have private insurance, contact your provider for details. For CHP+ or Medicaid, contact the Mesa County Healthy Communities Family Health Coordinator at 970-248-6900 or visit Colorado PEAK website.

School District

School counselors can connect families with school and community resources. Medicaid-enrolled students with IEPs or IFSPs may qualify for the School Health Services program, which provides counseling and psychology services. Visit the Mesa County School District website to find more information.

Victim Assistance

The Crime Victim Compensation Act helps victims of crimes such as assault, domestic violence, and child abuse. For support, please call 970-244-3275 or visit the Victim Assistance section of the Mesa County Sheriff's website.

Colorado Legal Services

Colorado Legal Services is a nonprofit that assists low-income individuals and seniors with civil legal matters such as family law, housing, consumer issues, elder law, health law, and government benefits. For help, please call Colorado Legal Services at 970-243-7940 or visit the Colorado Legal Services website.

Western Slope Center for Children (WSCC)

WSCC provides support and advocacy for child sexual abuse victims and their families, promoting dignity, justice, and healing. For assistance, call 970-245-3788.
