Mesa County joins legal fight to protect Western Slope energy jobs and economy
The Board of Mesa County Commissioners has voted to join the West Slope Colorado Oil and Gas Association (WSCOGA) as a co-plaintiff in a lawsuit challenging recent revisions to Colorado’s air quality regulations. The lawsuit contests the Colorado Air Quality Control Commission's (AQCC) Feb. 14 enactment of new greenhouse gas rules, which could force the closure of local energy facilities.

Japanese beetle hot zone treatment begins
Beginning May 19, 2025, Mesa County, in partnership with WD Yards, Inc., will begin Japanese beetle eradication treatment on properties within the hot zone. The treatment includes application of Acelepryn (Chlorantraniliprole), a pesticide that is considered safe for humans, pets, pollinators and birds while effectively targeting Japanese beetles in the grub stage.
