First reading of Ordinance 008(D) to update eight building and construction codes
At the Feb. 11 public hearing, Mesa County Attorney Todd Starr and Chief Building Official Darrell Bay presented the first reading of Ordinance 008(D) to update eight building and construction codes to modernize them to the most recent editions — keeping up with current construction methods, technology, materials, techniques, and state requirements and creating a balanced and thoughtful approach to localizing the updated codes. The first legal posting of the Ordinance was posted in the Daily Sentinel on Feb. 1, 2025.

The Resource Room at the Mesa County Workforce Center (MCWFC), 512 29 1/2 Road, is available to the public Monday through Thursday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Friday, 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Road and Bridge crack seals 17 ½ Road to lengthen road’s lifespan
Last week, Mesa County Road and Bridge crews worked on one seemingly small project that saves Mesa County taxpayers money over time. In about eight days, the team crack sealed 17 ½ Road from K 6/10 Road to N 3/10 Road — completing one portion of the District A (Appleton, Fruita, Glade Park, Loma, Mack, Redlands) crack sealing project they have been working on since January of this year.
